144 days in a row at the cinema! Today I saw The Shape of Water.
The Shape of Water is a successful remake of Free Willy, in which a woman finds a captive sea creature suffering in aquarium run by scientists and must rescue it from the evil team with the help of her friends and a plan so crazy it just might work. The only difference between this and Free Willy is that The Shape of Water has nudity and sex scenes, thus one could argue that (because Eliza is not paying for penis) the title ‘Free Willy’ is better suited to this film than the original.
There are other differences than coitus with the creature, however. The Shape of Water has lush set designs and is rich in poetry and softer on message. Guillermo del Toro films a classic Hollywood tale with a shortage of surprises but as visually captivating as a locked aquarium in an underground lab.
Out of a possible 10, I have 7 Fs to give.
