162 days in a row at the cinema! Today I saw Italian road movie Il Figlio, Manuel.
Manuel is a road movie through the middle of nowhere, where the central character is only a passenger with no control over where he goes, what he sees or what he does. Manuel (the beautiful and talented newcomer Andrea Lattanzi) is kidnapped by his situation and captive to circumstances so this trip to his ultimate destination is everybody’s decision but his own, until he arrives and understands he’s lost.
Manuel is a quiet trip in shades of grey with enough of a story to keep moving slowly forward and a cast of strong second roles supporting the subtle tour de force by Lattanzi.
Manuel won’t make anyone’s Top Ten list yet won’t be easily forgotten, and is worth taking for a ride.
Out of a possible 10, I have 7 Fs to give. #recommend
